HOW ELECTROLYSIS WORKS

How does electrolysis work?

Electrolysis works by treating each hair individually. A fine probe is inserted into the natural opening of the hair follicle, following the direction of hair growth, and then a precisely selected electrical impulse is applied.

Because each hair is treated individually, the method does not rely on hair pigment in the same way as laser treatment. This means electrolysis can also be considered for light, red and grey hair, as well as individual hairs remaining after laser treatment.

The treatment scope and number of appointments are individual. They depend, among other factors, on the treatment area, the number and characteristics of the hairs, and how new hairs appear over time. We create the treatment plan based on the actual situation in the specific area.

Electrolysis or laser hair removal?

HOW IT WORKS

Each hair is treated individually — from inserting the fine probe to removing the hair.

Fine probe

The probe is guided along the hair into its natural opening in the skin.

Precise impulse

The impulse settings are selected according to the hair, treatment area and individual skin response.

Hair by hair

After treating one hair, the specialist moves on to the next, working precisely within the selected area.

ELECTROLYSIS TECHNOLOGY

Apilus xCell Pur. Precision, hair by hair.

In electrolysis, each hair is treated individually. At EPIL STUDIO, we work with the professional Apilus xCell Pur system, selecting treatment settings according to the area, hair characteristics and the individual response of the skin.

A professional system used for electrolysis, enabling precise treatment of individual hairs. Settings are selected individually according to the treatment area, hair characteristics and skin response.

Precise treatment of individual hairs

Each visible hair is treated individually, allowing precise work even on small treatment areas.

Also suitable for light, red and grey hair

Electrolysis does not rely on hair colour in the same way as laser hair removal.

Individual treatment settings

Treatment settings are selected according to the area, hair structure and the individual response of the skin.

IMPORTANT

The device itself is only one part of the treatment. Proper assessment, treatment technique and individually selected settings are equally important.

CHOOSING THE METHOD

Electrolysis or laser hair removal – which should you choose?

Both methods are used to reduce unwanted hair, but they work differently and suit different needs. Important factors include hair colour and characteristics, the size of the treatment area and the stage of any previous treatment.

THE METHODS CAN COMPLEMENT EACH OTHER

We select the method for the hair and treatment area

Electrolysis can be a good option for light, red, grey and individual hairs, as well as when hairs remain after a series of laser hair removal treatments and require precise hair-by-hair work. The final treatment plan is selected individually during the consultation.

INDIVIDUAL APPROACH

Who is electrolysis a good choice for?

Electrolysis is especially suitable when you want precise removal of individual hairs on the face or body — including light, red and grey hair.

It can also complement previous laser hair removal when individual hairs remain after a treatment series. The treatment scope and settings are selected individually according to the area, hair characteristics and current skin condition.

In electrolysis, each hair is treated individually, so the method does not depend on hair colour in the same way as technologies that rely on melanin.

LIGHT · RED · GREY

When hair colour limits laser effectiveness

Electrolysis can also be used on hairs that contain little melanin. Each visible hair is treated individually.

AFTER LASER HAIR REMOVAL

When individual hairs remain

Electrolysis can complement a previous series of laser hair removal treatments and makes it possible to focus precisely on hairs that still need treatment.

FACE AND BODY

When highly precise treatment matters

The method works well on small, precise areas and wherever the goal is to treat specific individual hairs.

WHAT IF THERE IS MORE HAIR AND IT IS WELL PIGMENTED?

In some cases, a more convenient option may be laser hair removal

For larger areas and hair containing a sufficient amount of melanin, laser hair removal can treat a larger surface during one appointment. The choice of method depends on the hair type, skin, treatment area and treatment goal.

FACE AND BODY

Which areas can be treated with electrolysis?

Electrolysis can be performed on many areas of the face and body — for both women and men. Each hair is treated individually, so the treatment scope is selected according to the area, skin and hair characteristics.

APPOINTMENT PROCESS

What does electrolysis look like step by step?

Each appointment begins with a consultation and assessment of the skin, hair and treatment area. Based on this, the specialist selects the treatment method and settings.

During electrolysis, each visible hair is treated individually. Proper assessment, preparation of the area and aftercare are equally important.

We treat each hair individually, according to the needs of the skin and treatment area.

ASSESSMENT

Consultation and treatment assessment

Before starting, the specialist assesses the condition of the skin, hair characteristics and the selected area. During the consultation, health and treatment information that may be relevant to the assessment is also discussed.

SETTING SELECTION

Probe and treatment setting selection

The appropriate settings and treatment method on the Apilus xCell Pur system are selected according to the hair, skin and treatment area.

PREPARATION

Preparation of the treatment area

The area should be prepared according to the instructions provided before the appointment. The hair must be accessible for precise treatment during the procedure.

TREATMENT

Precise hair-by-hair treatment

A fine probe is guided into the opening of the hair follicle, followed by a short energy impulse. Each visible hair is treated individually.

PO TREATMENTU

Aftercare and planning the next appointment

After the treatment, you receive skincare recommendations. Future appointments are planned with consideration of the area, skin response and the appearance of new hairs over time.

BEFORE YOUR FIRST APPOINTMENT

See how to properly prepare for the treatment

Before electrolysis, it is worth preparing the skin properly and leaving the hair accessible for treatment. The most important guidelines are explained further down this page.

TREATMENT RESULTS

When do results appear and how many treatments are needed?

Electrolysis is a process spread over time. During one appointment, the hairs visible at that moment are treated, while others appear with the hair growth cycle.

WHY IS A SERIES NEEDED?

We treat each hair individually, while others appear over time

During one appointment, the specialist works with the hairs that are visible and can be treated precisely in the selected area.

Not all hairs appear at the same time. More may become visible over the following weeks, which is why the treatment plan includes a series of appointments spread over time.

The number of treatments needed is not the same for everyone. It depends, among other factors, on the size of the area, the number of hairs, their growth cycle and the individual rate at which new hairs appear.

We assess the result across the entire treatment plan, not only after a single appointment.

GROWTH CYCLE

Hairs appear in stages

Different hairs become visible at different times, so it is not possible to treat all of the hair during a single appointment.

AREA AND DENSITY

Number of hairs to treat

A small area with individual hairs requires a different plan than a larger area with denser hair. The time needed for precise hair-by-hair work also matters.

INDIVIDUAL PLAN

Area and rate of hair appearance

The frequency of future appointments and the length of the entire process are selected individually by observing the treatment area and the hairs that appear there.

TREATMENT RESULTS

What results can you expect after electrolysis?

Electrolysis results develop gradually because each hair is treated individually, and not all hairs are visible at the same time. The pace of change depends on factors such as the treatment area, number of hairs and course of the series.

RESULTS DEVELOP HAIR BY HAIR

Each appointment treats the hairs visible at that moment

During electrolysis, each visible hair is treated individually. Subsequent appointments address hairs that become visible in the area over time.

That is why results are assessed gradually by observing how the number of hairs requiring further treatment changes.

The number of appointments and pace of change are individual. They depend on factors such as the area, number and characteristics of the hairs, and how new hairs appear over time.

Results are individual and may vary between different treatment areas.

FEWER VISIBLE HAIRS

Gradual reduction in visible hairs

At successive stages of the series, you may observe a reduction in the number of hairs requiring further treatment.

NEW HAIRS OVER TIME

Treatment according to the growth cycle

Not all hairs are visible at the same time, so the treatment series is planned according to how new hairs appear over time.

PRECISE RESULTS

Hair by hair

The method allows individual hairs to be treated, including in small areas that require a high level of precision.

IMPORTANT

We do not compare results using one fixed standard

The treatment area, number and characteristics of the hairs, their growth cycle and the individual skin response can affect the course of the series. Therefore, results and the pace at which they appear may vary.

TREATMENT COMFORT

Does electrolysis hurt?

Sensations during electrolysis are individual. During a short impulse, you may feel warmth, tingling or a brief prick, and the intensity may vary depending on the treatment area and individual sensitivity.

Electrolysis treatment at EPIL STUDIO in Kraków
TREATMENT Electrolysis precise hair-by-hair treatment

The intensity of sensations can depend on factors such as the treatment area, hair characteristics, selected settings, treatment time in a given area and individual sensitivity threshold.

That is why the treatment approach is tailored to each person. Device settings, probe selection and treatment pace are adjusted to the area, hair and skin response during the appointment.

The same treatment may feel different in different areas — greater sensitivity does not mean that every appointment will feel the same.

WHAT AFFECTS SENSATIONS?

Comfort depends on several factors

OBSZAR TREATMENTOWY

Different areas can feel different

Skin sensitivity is not the same across the entire face and body, so sensations may vary depending on the treatment area.

HAIR AND SETTINGS

Hair characteristics and treatment technique matter

Impulse settings are selected according to the hair and treatment area. The chosen settings and treatment pace may affect the intensity of sensations during different stages of the procedure.

INDIVIDUAL SENSITIVITY

Everyone responds differently

Sensitivity to stimulation is individual, so a similar treatment may feel different for different people.

WHAT HELPS TAILOR THE TREATMENT?

Settings are selected according to the treatment area, hair characteristics and the individual skin response during the procedure.

Probe and treatment technique Precise adjustment

Probe selection and treatment technique are adjusted to the specific hair, treatment area and course of the appointment.

BEFORE YOUR APPOINTMENT

How to prepare for electrolysis?

Electrolysis requires precise treatment of each hair individually. That is why, before your appointment, it is important to prepare the skin and leave the hairs visible in the treatment area.

PROPER PREPARATION MATTERS

Before the treatment, prepare your hair and skin

During electrolysis, the specialist works with each hair individually. The hair should be visible above the skin surface, so immediately before your appointment, do not remove it in a way that would make precise treatment impossible.

The current condition of the skin is also important. Irritation, damage to the epidermis or active skin changes in the treatment area may affect qualification and the timing of the treatment.

If your medications, health condition, skincare routine or treatments performed in the area have changed since your previous visit, inform the specialist before the treatment begins.

Do not stop taking medication before electrolysis without consulting your doctor.

KEY GUIDELINES

A short checklist before your appointment

HAIR

Leave the hairs visible

Before your appointment, do not remove hairs with tweezers, wax or an epilator. The hairs in the treatment area should remain visible to the specialist.

SKIN

Come with clean, calm skin

On the day of your appointment, the area should be clean and free of heavy cosmetics. If the skin is significantly irritated or damaged, let us know before the treatment.

MEDICATIONS AND HEALTH

Provide up-to-date information

Tell the specialist about any medications you take, changes in your health and any other circumstances that may be relevant to proper qualification for the treatment.

SKINCARE AND OTHER TREATMENTS

Tell us about skincare and other treatments

If you use active skincare products or have recently had other treatments in the same area, inform the specialist before electrolysis begins.

MASZ WĄTPLIWOŚCI BEFORE YOUR APPOINTMENT?

Ask us beforehand if anything is unclear

If you are unsure whether you can use a specific product, remove hair or have another treatment in the area before your appointment, contact us. We will advise you on how to prepare for your scheduled electrolysis treatment.

TREATMENT SAFETY

Contraindications to electrolysis

Safe electrolysis begins with proper assessment. Before the treatment, the specialist evaluates the condition of the skin and the treatment area, and gathers information about your health, current treatment, implants and recent procedures.

Not every reported condition means permanent exclusion from electrolysis. Sometimes it is enough to postpone the appointment, adjust the treatment scope or consult a doctor before starting treatment.

That is why it is important to provide up-to-date information at every appointment, especially if your medications, health condition, skin condition or treatments performed in the same area have changed.

IMPORTANT

Do not stop taking medication before electrolysis without consulting your doctor. During the assessment, inform the specialist about your current treatment and any implanted devices or implants.

WHAT DO WE CHECK BEFORE TREATMENT?

The assessment helps determine whether treatment can be performed and to what extent

SKIN CONDITION

Active skin changes and damage

Infection, inflammation, severe irritation or damage to the skin barrier in the treatment area may be a reason to postpone the appointment until the skin has healed.

IMPLANTS AND DEVICES

Implanted devices must be reported before treatment

Inform the specialist if you have a pacemaker, another implanted electronic device or a metal implant. Its relevance depends on the technique and treatment area, and in some situations a medical consultation may be required.

MEDICATIONS AND TREATMENT

Current treatment should be discussed before the procedure

Some medications and therapies may affect skin condition, healing or eligibility for treatment. Do not stop anything on your own — tell us about your current treatment.

HEALTH AND RECENT PROCEDURES

New symptoms and recent procedures require assessment

Chronic conditions, changes in treatment, new symptoms or recently performed procedures in the same area should be discussed with the specialist before treatment begins.

HAVE QUESTIONS BEFORE YOUR APPOINTMENT?

Do not assess contraindications on your own

If you take medication, have a chronic condition, an implant, recent skin changes or have recently had a procedure in the same area, mention this during the assessment. If needed, the specialist will advise whether the appointment can go ahead, should be postponed, or whether it is worth consulting a doctor first.

Ask before your appointment

AFTER TREATMENT

What should you do after electrolysis?

After electrolysis, the skin in the treatment area may temporarily be more sensitive, red or slightly swollen. The reaction depends on the area, treatment intensity and individual skin sensitivity.

After treatment, it is worth limiting factors that may further irritate the skin — especially strong friction, intense heat and active skincare. Simplicity and gentleness are best.

Recommendations may vary depending on the treatment area and the skin’s response, which is why after each appointment the specialist provides guidance tailored to the specific situation.

The most important thing is to observe your skin, avoid irritating the treatment area and follow the aftercare recommendations.

AFTERCARE

A few simple rules for calm skin recovery

GENTLE SKINCARE

Do not overload freshly treated skin

Immediately after treatment, choose gentle skincare and avoid products that cause stinging, intensive exfoliation or additional irritation.

HEAT AND FRICTION

Limit additional heat and irritation

If the skin remains sensitive, limit intense heat, strong friction and other factors that may increase discomfort after treatment.

UV PROTECTION

Protect the treatment area from intense sun exposure

Protect the electrolysis treatment area from intense sun exposure and use sun protection according to the recommendations provided after the procedure.

MONITOR YOUR SKIN

Pay attention to your skin’s reaction

Temporary redness, slight swelling or increased sensitivity may occur. If the reaction is severe, unusual or causes concern, contact the studio or a doctor.

AFTER EVERY TREATMENT

You will receive recommendations tailored to your skin

Aftercare following electrolysis may depend on the treatment area, treatment intensity and individual skin response. If you have any questions after your appointment, you can contact us to discuss your situation.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Electrolysis FAQ

We have collected answers to the questions that most often come up before the first appointment and during a series of electrolysis treatments.

Assessment, probe selection, treatment technique and settings are always tailored individually before the procedure.

Does electrolysis remove hair permanently?

Electrolysis involves precise treatment of each hair individually. The aim is permanent removal of the hair from the treated follicle, but this does not mean the entire area can be completed in a single appointment. Hairs appear in different growth phases, so the process requires multiple sessions.

How many electrolysis treatments are needed?

There is no single number of appointments suitable for every case. The duration of the entire process depends on factors such as the area, number and density of hairs, their growth cycle and appointment regularity. We plan subsequent treatments individually based on progress and the skin’s response.

Does electrolysis hurt?

Sensations are individual. During treatment, you may feel brief warmth, tingling or a prick. The intensity depends on the area, selected settings, hair type and individual sensitivity. The probe, technique and settings are selected for the specific case.

Does electrolysis work on light, red and grey hair?

These hair types can be treated with electrolysis because the method does not rely on melanin in the hair in the same way as laser hair removal. That is why electrolysis is often considered for very light, red, white and grey hairs, as well as individual hairs remaining after a previous laser hair removal series.

Electrolysis or laser hair removal — which should you choose?

The choice depends on the hair type, size of the area and treatment goal. Laser hair removal makes it possible to treat larger areas and uses the pigment present in the hair. Electrolysis treats each hair individually and can be a good choice for light, grey, red or individual hairs that require high precision.

How should you prepare for electrolysis?

The hairs should be visible enough for the specialist to treat them precisely, so immediately before your appointment you should not remove them with tweezers, wax or any other method that pulls the hair from the follicle. The skin should be calm and clean. During the assessment, also mention medications, changes in your health, implants and recent procedures performed in the same area.

Can you trim the hair between appointments?

It is best to agree on what to do between appointments with the specialist. If needed, the hairs can be trimmed, but before the next treatment they must be visible again. If you plan to continue electrolysis, do not remove hairs with tweezers or wax before the appointment, because the hair must be accessible for proper treatment.

How often is electrolysis performed?

Appointment frequency is selected individually. Important factors include the rate at which new hairs appear, the size of the area, treatment time during one session and the skin’s response. The next appointment is best planned according to the current stage of treatment rather than using one identical schedule for everyone.

What are the contraindications to electrolysis?

Before treatment, the condition of the skin and relevant health information are assessed. An active infection, inflammation, severe irritation or skin damage in the treatment area may be a reason to postpone the appointment. Current treatment and any implanted devices or implants should also be reported so the specialist can carry out a proper assessment.

Do not stop taking medication on your own before treatment. If the situation requires additional assessment, the specialist may recommend consulting a doctor before starting or continuing electrolysis.

How much does electrolysis cost at EPIL STUDIO?

The price of electrolysis depends mainly on the appointment duration and the selected specialist. The price list includes different session lengths and hourly packages, and a disposable needle fee is added to the treatment. Current rates are available in the full EPIL STUDIO price list.
